Okay, so I am new to this. (Quivering and shivering in apprehension and anticipation).
I am new to the blog scene respectively, so bear with me while I get my feet wet and prepare to dive in!
I painstakingly figured out how to set this blog up this morning so that I could communicate with you about massage therapy, bodywork, writing, freelance writing work, reading nonfiction and the benefits of feeding your head with nutritional knowledge, and fun things you get out of philosophical reasoning. These are just a few of the things we can get into together on this blog, and I truly hope that we have a long-lasting relationship in sharing ideas and information.
I've been licensed for massage therapy since 1993, and have worked in many venues for practicing my profession, the longest of which was at a resort spa located on the west coast of Florida. The spa really wasn't work to me, it was more or less a second home or a playground. In fact, massage therapy never was work to me -- it was playtime. I used to pride myself on being a professional blubber rubber, and I loved to rub blubber! Oh come on now -- I mean that in a positive way! I don't care whether you are fat or skinny, as long as you can get off the table and look at me like I made your day! And if you give me a hug, that's almost as good as a cash tip!
Massage therapy has many facets, it is not all physical. There are many energy therapies out there that I naturally utilize and integrate during a regular massage. One of my favorites is Reiki, for which I am a level 3 practitioner -- for what that's worth. I'll get more in-depth on that matter in another post specifically about Reiki, but for now I will can see is that the various levels of Reiki are an illusion. Sometimes the illusions are fun, sometimes they're helpful, but they're not always necessary!
Another energy therapy I endorse wholeheartedly is EFT. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and is a tapping technique used to stimulate certain points along the neural pathways in our bodies, causing us to release pent-up emotional baggage that causes all sorts of problems. EFT really looks stupid when you're performing it, and anyone who is newly introduced to it can't help but laugh at how silly it looks, but damn if it don't work! EFT is a remarkable therapy that has made its mark on a large number of psychotherapy professionals -- psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and even medical doctors! The profound results speak for themselves. I'll leave it at that now. More posts coming in due time.
Because I have so much knowledge in my head about so many subjects, especially relating to health care issues, I have to have some sort of outlet for it, so freelance writing is another great topic for discussion here on this blog! I have several sources that I work with, and although I am not currently rated professional in this endeavor, I am taking some time and putting in some effort into further study to know the ropes when it comes to publishing written work. I have some published articles on www.associatedcontent.com/shikah, and have more on textbroker.com. Both of these websites are great for people who like to write and earn a few extra bucks on the side. I do it for practice. One day I'll get good at it!
Another facet of this blog will be devoted to the trucking industry, and what life on the road is like inside an 18 wheeler as your home. There are times I'll refer to that, because on the road is where freedom is... the freedom that most of us only can dream about!
But what I'd like to do with this blog is make somebody's day, share a tidbit of anecdotal knowledge or sparkly gem of truth for someone to be blessed by! Yes I know I used a lot of exclamation marks in my writing, but if you could hear my voice, you'd understand why! Life truly is a joy and I always feel like I'm living large!
